How to Install Happ on Your TV and Connect the Proxy

Happ works on TVs running Android TV and Google TV — the app installs from Google Play or via an APK. The main challenge on a big screen is entering the key with the remote, and below we cover all the methods that actually work.

Which TVs and Set-Top Boxes Are Supported

Happ is built for the Android platform: TVs running Android TV and Google TV (Sony, Philips, TCL, Xiaomi TV, some Hisense models), as well as TV boxes — Xiaomi Mi Box, TV Stick, NVIDIA Shield and similar devices. On these, Happ installs like an ordinary Android app and makes full use of proxy mode on the Xray core.

Samsung TVs running Tizen and LG TVs running webOS use their own operating systems, onto which the Happ app cannot be installed directly. For such models, the most reliable route is an inexpensive Android TV box connected over HDMI: then all streaming runs through it, while the TV itself simply serves as a screen.

Before installing, make sure the TV is connected to the internet and signed in to a Google account — without it the app store won't open, and some of the key-entry methods will be unavailable.

Installing the App on Android TV

Open Google Play on your TV, bring up the search and type the query "Happ" using the on-screen keyboard or by voice via the microphone button on the remote. Select the Happ app (the client on the Xray core), tap "Install" and wait for the download to finish — an icon will appear on the home screen.

If the app can't be found in the store in your region, use APK installation. Download the file from a trusted source onto a USB drive or into internal storage, install a file manager (such as X-plore) from Google Play, and open the APK through it. In the TV settings, allow installation from this source when prompted on first launch.

After installation, launch Happ once so the app creates a profile and requests the permissions it needs. At this stage the key isn't required yet — first prepare it using one of the convenient methods described below.

How to Enter the Key with the Remote: Methods That Work

The service's Telegram bot issues the key and subscription — it's a long string, and entering it character by character with the remote is inconvenient. The fastest way: open Happ on your phone or in a browser on your computer, and on the TV, in Happ, choose to add a subscription by link and enter the short subscription address rather than the entire key.

The second method is the clipboard. Copy the key on your phone, send it to yourself in any messenger or a note opened on the TV, then select and paste the string into the Happ field. This eliminates typos in the long string.

The third method is a remote-control app. Install your TV's official remote app on your smartphone (Google TV, Android TV Remote, Mi Remote): it lets you type on the phone's keyboard, and the text appears instantly in the on-screen field. For a one-time key entry, this is the most comfortable option.

Use only a legitimate key — official, paid, or a trial obtained from the service's Telegram bot. Don't paste random links from public sources: they are unstable and unsafe.

Connecting to a Server and Checking It

Once the subscription is added, Happ will pull the list of available servers. Select a server from the list with the remote and press the connect button — the indicator will switch to an active state, and latency data (ping) will appear in the status line. For streaming, choose a server with lower ping and a stable response.

Check the result right on the TV: open the service or browser you need and make sure the content loads. If the video buffers, switch to another server from the subscription — on a big screen the difference in stability is more noticeable than on a phone.

Happ on Android TV can keep the connection alive in the background, so the next time you turn the TV on, the connection usually restores automatically. If it doesn't, open the app and press connect manually — you don't need to enter the key again.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I install Happ on a Samsung or LG TV?

Not directly: Samsung runs on Tizen and LG on webOS, and the Android Happ app can't be installed on them. The solution is to connect an Android TV box to the TV over HDMI and install Happ on it.

What's the easiest way to enter the key with the remote?

Don't type the whole key character by character. Add the subscription via the short link, paste the string from the clipboard using a messenger on the TV, or type it on your phone through a remote-control app — the text will appear in the on-screen field.

Where do I get the key for Happ on Smart TV?

The service's Telegram bot issues the key and subscription. An official, paid, or trial key will work. A single subscription usually works on both the TV and the phone at the same time.

Happ isn't in Google Play on my TV — what should I do?

Install the app from an APK: download the file from a trusted source, open it through a file manager on the TV, and allow installation from this source. After installing, launch Happ and add the subscription.

Do I need to enter the key again after restarting the TV?

No. The subscription is saved in the app, and re-entering the key isn't required. Just open Happ and press connect if it didn't restore automatically.

Why does the video stutter after connecting?

It's most likely the chosen server. Open the subscription list and switch to a server with lower ping and a more stable response — on a TV, streaming is sensitive to channel quality.
